Your responsibilities
  • Always follow the instructions of the crew, for your own safety.
  • Please let our crew know if you need any help or have any concerns.
  • If you are worried you will get seasick, please take sea sickness tablets in the morning before you come down. ‘Sealegs’ seem to be effective for most, they work best if taken the night before and again on the morning of the trip.
  • The skippers’ word is final.
  • Most importantly, have fun.

  • Seating: We have plenty of seating both inside the main cabin and in the flybridge.
What we provide

We supply rods, trace, bait, ice, tea and coffee, all inclusive.

Life jackets are available for ages 3 and up; passengers would need to provide their own life jacket for ages under 3.

What to bring

You need to bring your lunch and beverages unless you have organised catering with us beforehand.

Bring a hat, warm top and/or a jacket, sunblock.

There is no specific type of footwear required, but closed, non-slip shoes are ideal. Gumboots are fine, just please make sure they are clean before coming aboard.

You are welcome to bring your own rods and trace, etc, but please be mindful of the limited space for extra gear.

What to expect

Our crew will bait your hooks and remove the fish.

The fish will be filleted and skinned on the way home, and the fillets will then be shared equally among the group.

Passengers are welcome to take the frames. Please just let the crew know how many you want when they start filleting.

On the majority of our trips, we fish between 40-120m of water. Our aim is to fill the bin in the morning with a variety of fish, such as tarakihi, snapper and gurnard, at around 40-60m.

On a full day, in the afternoon, we generally head out to between 80-120m and target kingi and hapuka.

Different trip options vary, so please check out our options for more information.
